Overview
Tough loss Bears fans, I know we wanted that one bad! We played terribly in the first half and still gave ourselves a real shot. To me personally, this loss did not discourage me like losses in the past would have, especially to the Packers. That seemed to be consistent in the fans responses this week as well.
Satisfaction with the team’s performance
1=Extremely dissatisfied, 5=Extremely satisfied

Average satisfaction rating: 3.14
Last week’s rating: 4.57
Mood meter
Due to a clunky graphic for this week’s meter, I am going to write out what the moods were from the various Bears fans.
- Hopeful – 50%
- Frustrated – 16.7%
- Proud – 11.1%
- Fired up – 8.3%
- Bummed – 5.6%
- Disappointed due to efforts; Really not sure how to feel; Embarrassed – 2.8% each
I thought that this week’s mood meter, while not as positive as last week, was still largely positive even after the loss. Half of respondents said that they still feel hopeful, which shows just how different this season has been, that we can say that coming off a loss to the Packers. But you know what, I agree with those people! I am still hopeful; you can’t win them all and I trust Ben Johnson to get the team refocused.
Confidence tracker (Coach & QB)
Fans were asked to rate the confidence they had in both the coach and QB, on a scale from 1-5 (with 5 being extremely confident).

Average confidence rating of Ben Johnson: 4.78
Last week’s rating: 4.79

Average confidence rating of Caleb Williams: 4.14
Last week’s rating: 4.11
These confidence ratings are another indication that fans are still believing in this team! Neither rating, coach nor QB, changed much at all from last week’s win over the Eagles.
I saw on twitter this week that my least favorite Packers media member, Peter Bukowski, was comparing how Bears fans feel about Caleb to how we did with Justin. I almost chucked my phone at the wall! I think the fan base has less questions about Caleb compared to Justin. We know Caleb needs to improve but we aren’t needing to do as much convincing of ourselves, we see it way more consistently!
Team trend

I thought the responses to this question were very telling as well! Even after a loss, more than half of the respondents said that they felt the team was trending up. Again, this just shows how much good faith has been built up this season so far. It is still a significant drop from the 94% we saw last week that felt the team was trending up, but nonetheless, most fans don’t feel that the team is trending down.
Favorite (or not so favorite) moment of the game!
The moments that stood out the most to fans this week included the final interception, Caleb’s TD pass to Olamide Zaccheus, and Kyle Monangai’s run that sent a piece of a helmet flying! Several fans also mentioned Caleb’s scrambling skills and ability to throw on the run.
Responses were somewhat critical but also largely hopeful, meaning the negative moments that were pointed out did not seem to have as much angst behind them compared to if we were doing worse on the season. Below are a few responses from fans:
- “Caleb Williams escaping the collapsing pocket to pick up a first down. Most negative thing that stands out is poor communication by offensive line on certain blocking schemes, mainly play action.”
- “That play where Monongai smashed into that line backer and broke a part of the Packers players helmet. That was sick. The interception to lose us the game was one of the ugliest interceptions I’ve ever seen Caleb throw.”
- “Not tackling Jacobs with 1/4 guys”
Which player stood out the most?!
| Which player stood out? | Number of votes |
| Caleb Williams | 7 |
| Luther Burden | 5 |
| N/A | 4 |
| C. J. Gardner-Johnson | 4 |
| Kyle Monangai | 3 |
| Olamide Zaccheaus | 2 |
| Colston Loveland | 2 |
| Wide Receivers | 1 |
| Ozzy Trapilo | 1 |
| Offensive line | 1 |
| Montez Sweat | 1 |
| Joe Thuney | 1 |
| Jaylon Johnson | 1 |
| Jaquan Brisker | 1 |
| D’Andre Swift | 1 |
| Cole Kmet | 1 |
| Grand Total | 36 |
Per usual, there were a lot of players brought up by the fans, some for good reasons, some for bad, and some for both! For example, Caleb was the most mentioned player, and one respondent noted it was for both good and bad reasons.
Some defensive players and their errors stood out to fans, including Jaylon Johnson, Jaquan Brisker, and certainly C.J Gardner-Johnson. On the positive side, this was certainly a big Luther Burden game, which was great to see! I want to see that continue going forward, he is electric. There was one fan who responded with “Jackson”, so to that fan I apologize, I did not know if you meant Jonah Jackson or Demarco Jackson the linebacker!
Playoff hopes?

The fact that the NFC is so stacked, that we started last week as the Number one seed, and were the number seven seed by the end of the day, is absolutely insane. After this loss, fans are feeling less certain about the playoff hopes, and understandably so. However, most fans think we are still above a 50% chance of making the tournament.
Temperature check on the season
Respondents were asked to describe their feelings about the season at this moment. As I have stated at various points throughout this report, the responses are resoundingly positive for a loss, and it’s because of how this team has played, and how we were a couple of plays away from winning one in Lambeau. Fans are mostly still feeling positive about the direction of the team, while some also understand that this may not be a year where we are able to make a truly deep run at the Below are some responses from fans when asked to take the temperature:
- “This team is really showing a lot of heart but is still a bit too fragile to be considered a deep playoff contender”
- “They’ve massively overachieved already”.
- “Despite a painful loss to the packers, i feel they’re still exceeding my expectations going into this season”.
- “We’re ahead of schedule and going toe to toe with the best in the league, so i feel pretty great”.
- “We’re playing with house money now”.
What do you want to tell the Bears?
Again, fans were more positive than one would normally be after a loss! Some fans did mention the lack of pass rush, the need to get off to a better start, and needing a bounce back from the O-line. Here are some messages that Bears fans wanted to pass along to the team:
- “Coach Ben ill run through a brick wall for you!”
- “Ben Johnson: Thank you”.
- “FTP and please lower merch costs”.
- “Ryan Poles, you better start using your draft picks for defensive line help”.
- “Ben Johnson I love you”.
- “Dont move to Arlington”.
- “To everyone, just thank you for everything so far”.
- “Ben, get better at knowing when to be cute. Also, coach your players (Caleb) to not play to the opponents level. This is a common but unrealized variable in sports. Tell Caleb to stop trying to make every game come down to a superman cape play. Capitalize early/often. The capability is there. Mind of a warrior”.
- “Don’t give up, beat the packers next time!!!”
Final note
Man, I wanted this game bad! This loss feels much different than losses in years past, especially to the Packers. This team has built up enough goodwill that this loss does not leave as many fans discouraged as they may normally be. I put myself in that boat, I am not discouraged at all. However, this Browns game becomes extremely important, because of how stacked this NFC is and where we are right now.
I appreciate everyone’s participation, and if you took the time to read this report, thank you!
Bear down!
